Discover the American South as the door to the "land of cotton" is opened along the South Carolina Cotton Trail.. The Trail is a motoring excursion into the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina. Begin your adventure with us at the South Carolina Cotton Museum and end at Fryer's Topiary Garden.
Cotton is as old as the earth. South Carolina had cotton being grown by the natives when the first permanent English colony was established in 1670. Joseph West was the first documented grower of cotton in South Carolina and the story of cotton in South Carolina starts there.
The exhibits take the visitors through history with examples of many implements used in the growing and production of cotton fibers. Explore the exhibits to find the larger than life, Boll Weevil and the body of the last Boll Weevil found in South Carolina.
